33. It is very important for me personally to encourage non-Christians to trust Jesus Christ as their Savior. True or False?

The Bible teaches us that Faith in Jesus Christ alone is the only way a person can be reconciled to God. This truth is taught in passages such as: John 14:6, where Jesus Himself told his disciple Thomas, who needed some comforting “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. The apostle Paul also affirmed this truth, when he wrote about the peace of a restored relationship with God that the believers in Rome now had, in his letter to them in chapter 5:1, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,”. These two verses also teach us about the basic need that humanity has, a restored relationship to God. And that this restoration can only be had through Jesus Christ.

Therefore, we are commanded in Matthew 28:19-20, again by Jesus himself to, “…go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Christians are commanded to proclaim the gospel to everyone, make disciples of Jesus Christ, and teach them to obey all that he has commanded.

So, the Bible tells us the only answer that is acceptable if we claim to be Christians is TRUE! It should be very important for every Christian to personally encourage non-Christians to trust Jesus Christ as their Savior.

34. Jesus Christ’s death on the cross is the only sacrifice that could remove the penalty of my sin. True or False?

The Word of God teaches us that, since the fall of Adam, everyone who has ever been born, with the exception of Jesus Christ, have been born in sin. This means they are living under the wrath of God and are subject to His righteous punishment. Only Jesus can save us from this wrath, and He did this by His death on the cross.

Isaiah 53: 5-6 says about the suffering servant, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all”.

After two whole chapters of revealing our sinful condition, and the fact that we deserve God’s punishment and cannot escape it, the apostle Paul then gives the good news in Romans 3:23-26, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus”.

The author of Hebrews tells us how Christ was able to take our punishment and reconcile us to God. In Hebrews 2:17 he writes, “For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people”. This word atonement means that He, Jesus, suffered the punishment that we deserved.

And then in Hebrews 10:14, “For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. Here we see that nothing, but the atoning death of Jesus can take away our sin.

Think of it as a great miraculous transaction: Christ’s righteousness was credited to us while our sin was put on Him.

So, the answer to this question should also be 100% TRUE! Jesus Christ’s death on the cross is the only sacrifice that removes the penalty of my sin.

35. Only those who trust in Jesus Christ alone as their Savior receive God’s free gift of eternal salvation. True or False?

John 14:6 says, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. We have already looked at this passage. If anything, this tells us that the Biblical message is consistent, and we will ignore it to our eternal regret. Jesus is quite clear here and we cannot twist this verse to mean anything else. Jesus is the only way to the Father, and no one comes to the Father except through Him.

This same truth is also taught in Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” No one else besides Jesus Christ.

Just two more passages will show that in order to be saved, we must believe in Jesus Christ. Matthew 16:24-25, “Then Jesus said to his disciples, Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it”.

And finally, in the passage Acts 16:25-34, where read the story of when Paul and his missionary companion Silas were thrown into prison in the city of Philippi. There were some miraculous events that released them from their bondage. And in the commotion the jailor asked them in verse 30, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” Let’s read their answer which they gave immediately in verse 31, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved,”

The answer to this question is also 100% TRUE, only those who trust in Jesus Christ alone as their Savior receive God’s free gift of eternal salvation.
